Ministries
Deer Park Church of Christ is involved in many ministries. The purpose of these ministries is to have a positive effect on the community that we are serving, and to have a positive effect on our members, whose involvement in service is a blessing unto itself. Some of our ministries are:
Education Ministry: Includes Bible School from infants on up through adults and Vacation Bible School for the children during the summer. Normal classes are held Sunday morning at 9:30am and Wednesday evening at 7:00pm. This ministry encompasses everything from people who help get teaching supplies and curriculums together, to people who organize and train the teachers, to people who get the facilities and furniture in place and prepared for use by the teachersand of course it includes the teachers.
Evangelism Ministry: Includes preaching, our youth ministry, Gospel meetings, Seminars, and other special events, and many other evangelistic efforts which each meet a special need for our visitors, members, and neighbors in our community. Some of our evangelism ministries include:
Transportation Ministry for those who may not have transportation, or physical difficulty driving to worship with us.
Bible Correspondence: mostly for people in other countries who don’t enjoy the same levels of freedom that we do and can sometimes face difficulty getting Bibles, or finding someone to teach them about God’s Word.
Service Ministry: there are several examples, but one of the newer ones involves our youth volunteering to help some of our elderly members as well as neighbors in our community with yard work or maintenance at their homes, or any other encouragement they might need.
Fellowship Ministry: Involves all kinds of fellowship activities designed to help us bond with each other, encourage one another, and spur each other on to good deeds. These activities include monthly pot luck dinners, holiday parties, seasonal activities, lock-ins and rap sessions for the youth, monthly outings to areas of interest for our seniors, and many other activities.
Public Worship Ministry: This ministry is designed to help have an orderly and uplifting worship service. It includes everything from getting overheads together for the song service, to making sure preparations have been made for the Lord’s Supper and those who will be serving it. It also includes organizing the men who will lead prayers or songs.
Benevolence Ministry: It is our policy to minister to members of the Lord’s body and to the people of our community through ministries of benevolence, showing the love of Jesus to those in need or in pain. These ministries include:
Food and clothing pantry for needy families in the church and community
Some financial assistance to needy families
Home and house repairs for needing persons
Support of children’s homes
Counseling services for a full range of needs including: spiritual, marital, and family needs. If the needed counseling is outside of our expertise or abilities, we will assist in referring to a qualified counselor.
Operations Ministry: This ministry covers a wide range of needs from building and grounds maintenance, to facilities use for weddings and other events. This ministry covers everything from renovations; to making sure the air conditioners work (we all appreciate that!)
In addition to these ministries which deal with operations within our church and immediate community, we also support ministries all over the world. We have missionaries like Kevin and Debra Reynolds in Rio de Janeiro taking God’s message to countries all over the world.
We also have several other ministries we support such as Sunny Glen Children's home and Medina Children's Home.
